PENTATONIX

I have been thinking a long time about what to tell here right now and I’ve just decided to talk about Pentatonix.

 

Pentatonix is an a cappella group of five singers between 20 and 25 years old: Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola, all of them are from Arlington, Texas.

Pentatonix began with three friends that grew up together: Kirstie, Mitch and Scott.

One day they presented to a casting for the glee’s show where they recorded a cover of "Telephone" and sent it in, although they did not win, they became famous in their school, where the band began performing.

They started uploading videos on You Tube, where they became known.

Scott and Kirstie graduated from Martin High School in 2010, Scott went off to the University of Southern California to pursue a degree in Popular Music, while Kirstie pursued a Musical Theatre major at The University of Oklahoma. Mitch was still in his last year of high school.

By this time, Scott met Avi, a highly recognized vocal bass and he joined the group, after that, the trio found Kevin on YouTube, as one of his videos, where he was beatboxing.

Pentatonix met as a group for the first time the day before the first audition for the reality show The Sing-Off. Mitch didn’t attend their graduation ceremony High School to arrive in time for the hearing. They successfully passed auditions for the program and thanks to excellent performances they won the competition.

After that, all of them left their careers and moved to Los Angeles.

In January 2012, Pentatonix began publishing versions of popular and classic songs in his YouTube channel, they also recorded their first album, which sold over 20,000 copies the first week since launch.
They have appeared in many television programs and they have collaborated with many charitable causes.

I have talked about Pentatonix because when I listened them for the first time, I was impressed by what they can do only with their voices, without an instrument.

I think they sing very good and I enjoy listening their music and watching their videos on You Tube.

A great experience:

Today I’m going to write about one of the best experiences in my life.

Last summer my friends and I went to Poland, we went there to volunteer, among other things, like visiting the country or praying.

We left on July 9, I remember I had to get up at three in the morning to get to the airport at four, at first I was very sleepy, but seeing my friends with luggage in hand made me forget that I wanted to sleep.

All the time we spent in Poland we slept in a kind of convent.

Every morning we went first to mass and after that, to a nursing home to help the elders, feeding them, making them happy with songs and dances, giving love to them, etc.

Most of the days we cooked our own food. After eating, we prayed every day.

In the afternoons we went to visit the city: Krakow, which is a big and beautiful city, with a lot of things to see. In my opinion, the most beautiful things of all are the central square and the Cathedral with its history, there is also plenty of shops, malls and a beautiful river running through the city, the river Vistula.

We did several things, one day we went on a boat through the river, it was gorgeous; other day we went to Wadowice, Pope’s Juan Pablo II home; we visited Schindler’s factory, Czestochowa sanctuary, this was very exciting and impressive to me and finally we went to Auschwitz and there are no words to describe how it is there, it was unpleasant and really shocking, I was struck by the silence that had all those rooms filled with personal belongings of those killed people in the concentration camp, the dimensions of it, and what the Nazis were able to do with these poor people. I think it's something you can’t imagine until you're there.

This is something that leaves its mark forever, something sad, when you're there you really feel it because you step yourself into the shoes of all those people, you're there, in one of the largest Cemeteries in the world, it is an indescribable feeling , something awful and you feel like wanting to mourn, but I don’t regret being there, on the contrary, I have lived the history, I'm grateful for it, this is something I think everyone should go there at least once in their life, so that this doesn’t happen again.

 We were there only 10 days, at first I thought it was going to be a long time in a very strange city but, the truth is that I missed more days, time passed very quickly.

For me, it was an incredible experience, people there, are very good and grateful, I guess for all that this country has experienced.

I made new friends and I met a new culture, I lived sad moments, some with fear, others very funny and others with feelings that I had never lived before, so I can say that it was a very complete experience, one of the best in my life. 

Anne Frank's life

I’m going to write about Anne Frank’s life, I have read her diary and I think it happened a lot of things in her life in spite of having lived only thirteen years, and I think that Anne was very brave, because although she lived bad times, she always tried to smile and make happy to her family, that`s the main reason why I'm going to write about her life.
Annelies Marie Frank was born in 1929, Germany. 
Her parents were Otto Frank and Edith Hollander, she had a sister called Margot, who was three years older than her.
They were Jews and they were living a happy life, however their parents were worried about the situation in Germany because Adolf Hitler were blaming the Jews for their problems.
The day of Anne’s birthday, their parents gave her a diary, she was very excited because she loved writing, and she started writing immediately.
In this diary she wrote about her experiences in an attic, while their family and she were holing up from the Nazis in Amsterdam during the Second World War.
But one day, her family were captured and they were taken to a concentration camp, where they all died, except her father Otto. 
Anne were sent to a concentration camp in Auschwitz in 1944 and a few time later to another one in Bergen-Belsen. 
She died there of a high fever, in 1945, some days before she was released.

Some years later, Otto found her diary and he published it, known nowadays as ‘The diary of Anne Frank’.

My personal profile

My name is María Sánchez Rokiski, I’m 16 years old, I’m Catholic and I was born on the 25th of February, in Málaga, where I live with my parents and my brother Juan Luis, who is 19 years old. I have also a sister, whose name is Belen, she is  27 and she is married and has a cute son, called Mario. My best friend's name is Marian, she is from Granada and she is 16 years old too

In my free time I like dancing salsa, going out with my friends and watching tv, especially romantic films.

I love eating chocolate, listening to music and travelling, one of my favourite places in the world is Mexico.

I also like taking photos and drawing, but I have no time to do it.The subject I like the most is English but I like very much Maths and technical graphics too, I love languages and I would like to learn German because I think that nowadays is very important to know many languages. In the future I would like to study architecture or engineering but I’m not very sure what I’m going to choose yet.
